In Memoriam, 2019

Two installations of memorial works focused on the frailty of aquatic ecosystems evident in declining fish populations, coral bleaching, rising water temperatures and acidification. The focus is on the sublime beauty contrasted with the immensity of the deep awe-inspiring landscape. Three photographs of living marine landscapes are paired with three contorted memorial sculptures to evoke the mystery in death and what remains.

Archival inkjet prints from 8.5” x 12” to 31” x 22”, dibond mounted on aluminum frames. Each photo is paired with a hazelnut wood sculpture ranging in size from 8" x 3.5" x 2.5" to 4” x 4.5” x 3”, with either copper gilding or nickel plating, atop bespoke aluminum shelves.
