Cultivus Loci - Aero, 1998
This sound garden is located in Europos Parkas, a sculpture park on the outskirts of Vilnius, Lithuania. An individual can listen into the tree canopy by using a sound collector or ‘ear trumpet.’ The trumpets are designed to reflect the internal organs of the ear as well as the manner in which vibrations of a sound wave are passed along within the ear. The rhythms, tones, and inflections of the sculptures engage the senses. Those who listen - regardless of their linguistic background - are able to share the language of sound.
